Rock Solid Sound
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. As of this writing I’ve had my SR6015 just over a month and as a home theater sound processor this thing is rock solid. Its two-channel musicality is top-notch as well. It is easy to configure and calibrate, and the Audyssey MultiEQ feature makes room correction a breeze. Once configured, the user interface is fairly intuitive. My only complaint is that if you power up the receiver before, say, waking up your Roku or blu ray, the sound doesn’t pass through. However, if you power up the receiver after you power up your sources, everything is great. Although, this may be an HDMI protocol issue. My cable between the Roku and the receiver is certified to HDMI 2.0, as is the blu ray cable. Still trying to suss this out. That aside, I’d still recommend this receiver. It sounds so much better than my old Pioneer Elite!

Practically Perfect
||Posted .I bought this unit to act as a pre/pro for use with external amplifiers and do not intend to use the unit's own internal amps. This review focuses solely on that usage. The unit runs cool as a pre/pro with no noticeable warmth on the top vent. In a word, the electronics provide as pure a sound for music as I have heard. Musicality is another word that fits. When a quiet point is reached in a song, it is quiet with no background noise or hiss. Voices are rich and mellow. Obviously the quality of the experience is also affected by the amps used, speakers, environment, etc. But if you have a good kit, this unit is going to give you a very musical experience. For movies, the sound is more balanced across the 5.1 setup than my 10-year old Integra. While the remote does not have dedicated buttons to adjust center/SS channels, one button push gives you "options", then navigate keys to "audio" and the desired channel's volume change. Easy. One last nit about the remote, it is not backlighted but the layout is simple and rarely confusing. One overall nit about the unit - the legacy "porthole" display is outdated and limited in the information offered upon it. Nostalgia is nice, but these days it is all about information. My thought is to keep the overall rounded fascia of the unit which is a nice look, but utilize a bigger LED screen, say 2X4 inches, with content information. I would also like to pre-program the sub to activate or de-activate for certain modes, for example "off" for stereo, "on" for 5.1, etc. In sum, as a pre/pro the unit is highly musical and smooth, and nicely balanced or adjusted for movies. I did not evaluate the internal amps at all. Recommended.

Exactly what I hoped and imagined
||Posted .Owned for 2 months when reviewed. After lusting after Marantz for years, and waiting for the 4K issue with their chip sets to resolve, I finally took the leap in to a higher end receiver to take full advantage of 4k via HDMI 2.2, 8k upscaling, and all the other features packed into this unit . I've owned the SR6015 AVR for close to 3 months now, and the time has flown by while I've been enjoying this unit. I upgraded my TV to 55" Samsung LED 4K in 2019 and set my sights on a receiver immediately after. Bought this unit to replace an ~2007 Yamaha receiver, and the difference is night and day. Screen display is bright and vibrant through the 4K upscaling, but I'm noticing some issues of blending between shades of black and gray, as well as colors in general. I'll keep adjusting settings, but I may wind up replacing the TV to something more on par with the quality of this receiver as opposed to the mid-tier Samsung I currently have. Audyssey set up was a breeze, and even with an off-center seating/viewing configuration, Audyssey did a great job calibrating the offset that audio separation of the channels is clearly distinguishable and consistent in volume. I bought a pair of Sony Atmos add-on speakers as much for the price as the convenience, since I'm currently shopping for a new set of speakers. Currently connected to a pair of NHT 2.1s, Super Center, and Super 1 surrounds. After 20 years, these things still sound amazing but I want to upgrade L&R fronts for integrated Atmos. Bass is supported by a 300-watt Polk audio powered sub, also on the agenda to be upgraded. All HDMI's throughout are Audioquest Carbon 8K, and all 5 front speakers are connected by Monster Z2. It's great for movies, gaming on the PS4 is seamless with no discernable lag, and the playback of streaming 4K via the Samsung UHD Player is amazing. I haven't purchased any 4K source materials yet, but I'm eager to see this perform with actual hardcoded materials, as opposed to compressed signal. While it's currently connected via Wi-Fi, I'm not using any of the features like Pandora or Spotfiy, just because I don't want to stop watching movies with the new audio. So far, I haven't found anything I'm disappointed about in performance, but I do wish the little Marantz circle lit up like their other receivers.

Hits the Mark
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This receiver is a replacement from my Denon SR920W which was getting a bit long in the tooth and moved to my secondary system. The Denon new was around a $600 receiver versus this unit which was $1599. [Note in the past week the price has jumped to 1699, strange, must be a MSRP change for 2021] What does an extra $1000 get you: More Dynamic, warmer musical sound. The Marantz just has more head room than the Denon due to a slightly beefier amplifier section. This unit also weighs 8 pounds more (20.8 lbs vs 28 lbs) and the upgrade build quality is evident. Nicer terminals, inputs, detachable power cord. This unit also has full pre-amp outputs along with a preamp mode to turn off amplification if you want to try external amplification. The display is small but to me this is not a bad thing since the on screen display gives me everything I need. The Denon takes up half the front panel and is somewhat obnoxious. Get the unit, you are going to be trapped inside for the next year with no movies or live music, so you might as well enjoy life.

Marantz receiver review
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Few small items that not exactly work as anticipated. Have 4 ceiling speakers and the setup was kinda wonky. Finally had to manually edit config. USB FLAC files are finicky and playing them from queue is not straight forward.... as it has a USB port in front to play songs. Other than that, all good.

SR6015
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Purchased with a pair of Martin-Logon speakers at our Best Buy salesman's recommendation. I am very pleased with the receiver and the speakers. I use Direct TV through the receiver to a Samsung 4K. I'm still trying to decide what to do for top front, sides and rear speakers.

Q: QuestionJust ordered Marantz SR6015 from a Best Buy Magnolia Store during the conversation - assessment phase (asked if there was any issues with the model and was given nothing they were aware of (Question is there any HDMI 2.1 chipset issues / fixes been made?)
Asked by Flash.
- A:Answer The chipset issue has not been resolved as of 01/03/2021.
Answered by Mike
Q: QuestionWill the Marantz SR6015 support a Dolby Atmos 5.14 channel configuration?
Asked by Greg.
- A:Answer Yes, as the 6015 can process up to 11 channels and power up to 9 channels. That supports up to a 7.2.4 application with an external power amp and a 7.2.2 or 5.2.4 application without one.
Answered by Marantz Team
Q: QuestionWill this support a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos speaker layout? Will a 3-way center channel speaker consume 1 or 3 channels?
Asked by Warren.
- A:Answer Yes, with an external 2 channel power amp. The 6015 can process up to 11 channels. If the Center speaker is tri-ampable, then that takes up 3 channels. However, the AVR is not designed to work with a bi-ampable or tri-ampable Center speaker. There's only one designated channel for Center info. You can bi-amp the Center but that would involve using the Center terminal in conjunction with the Center pre-out to an external power amp.

Q: QuestionHow to set up bluetooth headphones or other bluetooth devices to receive audio and simultaneously play speakers? How many bluetooth devices will play simultaneously? Can bluetooth enabled hearing aids also receive the signal?
Asked by george.
- A:Answer You would use the 6015's Bluetooth Transmit menu option to select if you want to the audio to playback to both a Bluetooth device and the 6015's amp channels. The Bluetooth Transmit feature allows output to one Bluetooth device. Yes, as long as the hearing aids' transmitter adheres to standard Bluetooth protocol.

Q: QuestionCan anyone confirm if the 4K/120htz pass through has been fixed? I want to connect my Xbox Series X to my 2020 TV and need the 4K / 120K to get the best performance.
Asked by Joel.
- A:Answer The link given by the Marantz Team is incorrect. Correct link is: https://www.marantz.com/en-us/hdmiadapter.

Q: Questionwhat speakers should be connected to this device?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Nearly any passive (non-powered) speaker on the market. Personally, I use KEF speakers with Marantz receivers for what I feel is a perfect combination for the money.

Q: QuestionIs there a Bluetooth extender for this receiver?
Asked by Scott7160.
- A:Answer Bluetooth extenders do exist. As we do not manufacture such things ourselves, and have not experimented with them, we cannot make any recommendations. Bluetooth does of course have it's range limitations, which can vary depending on the influence of interference from other electronic sources in the area. Keeping your talking devices as close as possible is always recommended.
