Don't get stuck with a big repair bill if the unexpected happens to your appliances. Geek Squad Protection enhances your manufacturer warranty and gives you extended coverage when the warranty ends.

Benefits of Geek Squad Protection for your refrigerator or freezer.

We make house calls.

We'll come to your home if your refrigerator or large freezer needs a repair. In some cases, we may have to replace your product.*

You'll never pay for parts and labor.

We take care of 100% of the costs of parts and labor for covered repairs, with no hidden fees. In some cases, we may have to replace your product.*

We'll cover up to $300 in spoiled food and medication (per event).

If your product has a mechanical breakdown, we'll cover spoilage up to $300 per event (for plans purchased on or after 3/1/2020**). Spoilage due to power outage is not covered.

If there's a failure from normal wear and tear, we'll repair it or replace your product.*

This could be a problem with an internal part or how the product was manufactured. It could also be caused by dust, internal heat or humidity. Accidental damage is not included.

If your refrigerator or freezer isn't working because of a power surge, we'll fix it or replace it.*

If there's a power surge or fluctuation that damages your product, we'll make things right. This includes a surge caused by a lightning strike.

We'll reinstall your product.

After we resolve what's wrong with your refrigerator or freezer, we'll reinstall it if we originally installed it.

You can transfer your Geek Squad Protection.

When you sell or give someone your covered product, Geek Squad Protection is still in effect, with no additional charges or restrictions. Call 1-800-433-5778 to transfer.

How does Geek Squad Protection work with your manufacturer warranty?

During the original manufacturer's warranty period, most repairs will be handled by the manufacturer. Keep in mind that Geek Squad Protection often covers important repairs that your manufacturer warranty doesn't, like failure due to a power surge.

If something goes wrong after the original manufacturer warranty ends, Geek Squad Protection has your back and will take care of any covered repairs or replacement of your product.*

Repairs are performed by either Geek Squad or one of our authorized third-party contractors. We require our third-party contractors to conduct a background check on any person they hire to enter your home.

How much does Geek Squad Protection cost?

It varies by product, and you'll be shown the exact cost when you add a product to your cart. Here's an example for a refrigerator costing $1.699.99.

Food spoilage claim form.

If you need to file a food spoilage claim, please fill out this claim form and email it to reimbursement@bestbuy.com, as that is the most efficient way to get your claim processed. Along with the form, please include copies of the service work order and the original Best Buy purchase receipt.

If you need to mail your documentation, the mailing address can be found on the claim form.

Processing a claim can take up to 30 days. We'll mail you a reimbursement check once we've verified that payment is due.

Parts and coverage available under the manufacturer's warranty are not covered by the Plan.

*For some appliance products, we have limited access to replacement parts. Due to these complexities, we will skip any repair efforts and replace or reimburse you for your broken item. Brands include but are not limited to Viking, Wolf, Thermador, Sub-Zero, Miele and JennAir.

**The $300 amount is for Plans purchased on or after 3/1/2020. For Plans purchased before 3/1/2020, we'll cover $200 per food spoilage event. (Medication is not covered.)
