Why is a credit card required to activate a Total Tech Support membership?    

Total Tech Support is an auto-renewing membership, and a credit card is required so that your support benefits are uninterrupted. You can cancel your auto-renewing Total Tech Support membership at any time, and we will not charge your credit card without first sending a reminder to the email address on file.    

Why can’t I see my membership in my My Best Buy® account?    

You may have set up multiple My Best Buy accounts. To fix this issue and have Total Tech Support placed under the correct account, please call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289).    

How does the auto-renewal process work with Total Tech Support?    

Total Tech Support and any included benefits (such as internet security) renew automatically each year and your chosen card will be charged the then-current price on your yearly renewal date unless you cancel before then by calling 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289) or opt out of auto-renewal by managing subscriptions on your BestBuy.com profile. We will send you advance notice of membership renewal to the email address provided, including notice of any price changes.

Can a Total Tech Support membership be returned?    

Total Tech Support cannot be returned, but it can be canceled. You can cancel your membership by calling 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289) or you can opt out of auto-renewal by managing your subscriptions on your BestBuy.com profile. For a yearly membership, if you call within 30 days of purchase, you will receive a refund for the full value of your membership, minus any membership discounts you may have received. If you cancel after 30 days, you will receive a prorated refund, minus any membership discounts or benefits you may have received.

Can I transfer my Total Tech Support membership to someone else?    

Yes, if you want to transfer your membership, please call us at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289) so we can update our records. The original purchase receipts and any service receipts should be transferred to the new owner. The new owner will need to create a My Best Buy account if they don't have one already.    

Can I give a new Total Tech Support membership as a gift to someone else?    

Yes, you can purchase a Total Tech Support Gift Membership both in store and online. After the membership is purchased, the person receiving the gift will need to activate their membership online, as directed on the gift package. Does membership cover more than one address?    

The Total Tech Support membership for $199.99 covers only one service address, but you can purchase a Total Tech Support Second Residence Membership for $349.99 to cover up to two service addresses. The Second Residence Membership can only be purchased in store.

Can anyone living with me use my membership?

Yes, your Total Tech Support membership covers every device for every person who lives at your single-family home under the service address.

Are all in-store and remote support services included in the membership at no extra cost?    

No, but most in-store and remote support services are included. See a list of just some of the many included services. 

Is there a limit to the number of times I can have the same service performed?

No, you can have any service performed multiple times during your membership.

Does $49.99 cover more than one service during an in-home visit?    

No, you will have to pay $49.99 for each standard in-home service that is part of your membership, even if multiple services are performed during the same visit. Fees for any necessary parts or accessories (such as mounts or brackets) or permits will be charged in addition to $49.99 for each standard in-home service. Also, a trip charge may apply for travel outside of metro areas.

In addition, advanced services and repairs are 20% off with your Total Tech Support membership. This discount applies to the labor cost only.

Are all Geek Squad Protection Plans and AppleCare Products 20% off?    

With your membership, you get 20% off most Geek Squad Protection Plans and AppleCare Products, but the savings do not apply to monthly paid plans and plans that include loss and theft insurance.  

Is Total Tech Support a Protection Plan?    

Total Tech Support is not an extended warranty plan or a Protection Plan like Geek Squad Protection and AppleCare Products. While it does provide a discount on repairs and most Protection Plans, a Total Tech Support membership by itself will not cover repairs for your devices in case they break or fail.

How do I purchase Total Tech Support as a gift?

Total Tech Support can be purchased as a gift package and is available online, at any Best Buy store, or by calling 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289).

When you give Total Tech Support as a gift, you have three delivery options for the gift package:

  • You can ship it to the gift recipient’s address (through online or phone purchase).
  • You can choose in-store pickup, pick up the gift package yourself, and deliver it to the gift recipient.
  • You can have your gift recipient pick up the gift package at their nearest Best Buy store. Please choose the in-store pickup option and select a gift receipt at the time of purchase.

How does my gift recipient activate Total Tech Support?

Your gift recipient should visit this page and follow the steps to activate their service, including using the activation code on their gift package.

Note: The gift recipient will need to sign in to (or create) a My Best Buy® account and provide credit card information for auto-renewing purposes. After the first year, which is prepaid as part of this gift, the credit card on file will be charged annually at $199.99 (plus tax) until the membership is cancelled. We will not charge this credit card without first sending a reminder to the email address on file.
