Replaced due to not cooling
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Had to have a counterdepth because of my space. It fit into my space nicely. Nice layout in the refrigerator. Freezer space was small...very angled doors so not much would fit easily. Also, the distance the freezer drawer pulled seemed awkward to get into. It went out in 10 days so had to replace it with something different that was in stock. The guy that brought the replacement said he hardly ever has to replace a GE, so I likely just got a bad one. Would probably have kept it if it hadn't died but hard to recommend based on my experience.

freezer drawer impossible to open
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Fridge was great but freezer drawer was almost impossible to open. It took two hands, and often the entire refrigerator would move while trying to open the drawer.

Perfect for my space
||Posted .Owned for 5 months when reviewed. It fits perfectly into our small kitchen. I love that there are no fingerprints to clean, and even though it’s counter depth, I feel there is more useable space than our previous refrigerator/freezer.

Do not get this unit. Pretty but finish is a mess
||Posted .The slate finish is not fingerprint proof and is fragile. The unit is pretty and seems functional and looks great in my spot but I'm returning it today.

Q: QuestionWhat is the actual energy consumption of this unit. It says 15 amp, but that can't be accurate. It would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 6.5 amps.
Asked by TheAdmiral.
- A:Answer Hi TheAdmiral, thanks for your question! The power draw/AMP for this unit is 9.5 AMPS. For appliances with compressors (ex. refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers), there is a brief surge of power when the compressor cycles on. This is called the "surge" or "start-up" amps, and is about 2x to 3x the running amps. We hope that this helps! Stay safe. -Michael

Q: QuestionWhere is water filter located and how often to change it. And cost of filter.
Asked by Ranzo.
- A:Answer Hello - We appreciate you reaching out! The water filter cartridge is located in the fresh food interior on the left side wall, near the top. It should be replaced at least every six months - a filter indicator light will illuminate on the screen when the water filter needs to be replaced. The part number for the filter cartridge is RPWFE and it looks like it can be purchased online here: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/water-filter-for-select-ge-refrigerators-white/3757022.p?skuId=3757022. We hope this helps! All the best, Kelsey@GEA

Q: QuestionFor the model GWE23GYNFS, how would I turn off the automatic Ice Maker? The table on PDF page 23 of the user manual does not list the GWE model, suggesting the referenced "ice maker" button does not apply. Is this just a typo? How would I turn it off?
Asked by eib.
- A:Answer Hi, Good question! We thank you for choosing GE Appliances and we'd like to provide you with an answer. We found that in order to turn your ice maker off you have to press the "Ice maker" button on the control panel. There should be a control panel located in the door of your model (GWE23GYNFS). We hope this information helps. Have a great day! -Sylvia@GEA
